Local Education is proud to be supporting a well-regarded and forward-thinking secondary school in East London in their search for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Social Sciences to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis starting in September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to teach a range of engaging subjects such as Psychology, Sociology, and/or Health & Social Care to Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and supportive Humanities and Social Sciences department committed to academic excellence and student wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in one or more Social Sciences subjects

  • Plan, assess, and support students working towards GCSEs and A-Levels

  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment programmes

  • Monitor student progress and provide meaningful feedback and interventions

  • Promote critical thinking, independence, and a love for social studies

  • Take part in departmental and whole-school initiatives

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent – ECTs are welcome

  • Specialism in Psychology, Sociology, or a related subject

  • Ability to teach at both KS4 and KS5

  • Passion for social sciences and strong subject knowledge

  • Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and student development

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
