Local Education is excited to be recruiting on behalf of a vibrant and supportive secondary school in Southend-on-Sea, seeking to appoint a passionate and inspiring History Teacher for a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established Humanities department that prides itself on delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that foster critical thinking, curiosity, and a deep understanding of the past.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach History to students across Key Stages 3 and 4 

• Plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive lessons aligned with curriculum objectives

• Inspire students through interactive teaching and real-world historical context

• Assess, track, and support student progress to raise attainment

• Contribute to curriculum development and extra-curricular activities such as history clubs or trips

• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and maintain a strong departmental ethos

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent – ECTs are welcome to apply

• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for History

• Ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
