About the Role:
• Position: Head of Physics
• Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex
• Contract: Full-time
• Start Date: September 2025
• Key Stages: KS3 – KS4
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic Physics department, drive curriculum development, and inspire students to develop a deep understanding of Physics at all levels, including GCSE.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the Physics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
• Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons across KS3-KS4.
• Support and mentor colleagues within the department to enhance teaching practice.
• Develop and refine the Physics curriculum to ensure it remains innovative and inspiring.
• Monitor student progress and implement strategies to maximise attainment.
• Promote a love for Physics and encourage students to explore STEM-related careers.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Have experience teaching Physics.
• Be an ambitious and inspiring leader, with experience in curriculum development and departmental leadership (or ready to step into a leadership role).
• Have excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Be committed to raising standards and student achievement within the subject.
