About the Role:
We are working with a thriving and ambitious secondary school in Grays seeking a motivated and experienced Second in English to join their team from September 2025 on a permanent, full-time basis.This is an exciting opportunity for an English teacher ready to take the next step in their career and support the leadership of a high-performing department. You’ll play a key role in curriculum development, staff mentoring, and driving student progress in English across KS3 and KS4.

Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head of English in leading the department
Contribute to the development and delivery of a high-quality English curriculum
Monitor and track student progress, implementing interventions as needed
Mentor and support colleagues within the department
Teach English across KS3 and KS4, including preparation for GCSE exams
Contribute to whole-school literacy initiatives and enrichment activities

What We’re Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong classroom practitioner with experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4
Experience or interest in leadership responsibilities within a department
Excellent communication, organisation, and team-working skills
A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a commitment to raising standards
